Crushed, burned, drenched, burned again,
the pain, a white noise
He tried to cry, beg, move, God knows he tried
The pain, a white noise,
After the pain came the darkness,
lonely and suffocating, unwelcoming , unfriendly, unloving
That is all this child came to know
Then came light,
And oh Lord the light was beautiful,
burned his eyes but God it was beautiful
The light chased away the pain and the darkness,
filled his tiny soul with something new....
The colors, the sounds, the feeling of being touched,
oh how beautiful life was....
He meant something now...
He was someone now
Then she came by, a beautiful yellow dress it was,
with such white pearly shoes
Her warm brown eyes like the color of fresh earth,
her rosy cheeks, pink and full and round
Her smile, ten thousand stars crammed into one beautiful face,
those eyes saw him and his little heart beat faster
It beat faster still as she came closer ,
her hand on his fragile body,
her warmth spreading across his cold hard skin
"You are beautiful" Her voice rang out and he knew she meant it,
words he would carry for all eternity embedded in his little fragile heart
" I am beautiful," he now says,
lying against the cold hard drenched ground,
broken and useless
His painted skin broken and cracked,
the earth in places where dirt was not designed to permeate
Forgotten, disgusting dirty little thing,
A home for the unwanted he has become,
a home for the lonely, bereaved, and hated
" I am beautiful," He says through the weight of it all,
" I am beautiful," He says as he sees her face for one last time
" You are beautiful," She affirms in the darkest corner of his mind,
as the boot comes down against his head
